Choosing where to eat in a city filled with endless options and new restaurants opened daily can be challenging. One thing that makes it easier…wine on tap! Yes my friends, Gusto 101, an Italian restaurant from the people behind Cafe Nervosa, has their house wine on tap for only 1$ an ounce. This is great when you are the driver of the group and only want a little taste. And the house pino grigio was not bad at all.
Neither was the housemade foccacia bread…although we did have to specifically ask our server to bring us this delicious looking bread after we were given two baskets of their plain old white bread. Never the less, it was buttery, salty, and filled with sun dried tomatoes.
I absolutely fell in love with the atomsphere…a large open space with two patios and an open kitchen, I really enjoyed the whole vibe. Our server was absolutly raving about the kale salad, so we decided to go with his advice and shared this to start, along with our own mains.
Definitely the star was the mushroom pasta. The sauce was creamy and filled with meaty mushrooms and the pasta perfectly cooked. The steak salad was very well seasoned and grilled to a medium rare and the branzino also quite nice.
Bottom Line: Nice place for after work drinks and apps. Good food — won’t blow your mind, but very solid.

Hey Dara!
I love the new blog!!! Can’t wait to continue to read more excellent tips from you. When you come back to NY to visit (of I find myself in Toronto) I can have an inperson lesson on “how to eat” with you!

Thanks Katherine! You should 100% come visit in Toronto! And I will be back in NYC sometime in November and December so we will have to plan a run/brunch date.

Just went to gusto 101 for my first time today. Had the Kale salad and another one. Loved it so much that I will be blogging about it too.
