You know what I love? A good deal.
I can’t resist a good two-for-one sale. Why buy one bag of popcorn when you can get two for the same price? Anyone else relate?
Here’s a good deal for ya – two recipes for the price of one. Sesame chicken bites AND delicious soy and sesame flavoured greens. And best of all, one pan. ONE PAN! That’s the deal of the century right there.
The chicken gets the classic breading treatment, except we’ve got a boat load of sesame seeds and just a couple spoonfuls of flour. This leads to a crispy and flavourful exterior and a super moist interior. The chicken bites alone would make a delicious appetizer or main, especially when paired with the soy and lime flavoured sauce. But when nestled aside these gorgeous greens, it’s a dinner party worthy dish for sure.
This combo would be fantastic paired with some quinoa or brown rice, and feel free to douse the whole thing with that sauce. This is your usual chicken and veggies stir fry, but a whole heck of a lot better!

Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite size pieces or cubes)
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 1 cup sesame seeds
- 2 Tbsp all purpose flour
- 1/2 Tsp salt
- 1/4 Tsp pepper
- 3 Tbsp coconut oil (divided)
- 1 Tbsp canola oil
- 2 Tsp ginger (minced)
- 1 head broccoli (chopped)
- 4 heads baby bok choy (chopped, separate leafy greens from white base)
- 2 green onions (chopped)
Sauce
- 6 Tbsp soy sauce
- 3 Tsp sesame oil
- 3 Tbsp water
- 1 lime (juiced)
Note
This dish is great served over rice or quinoa to help soak up that extra sauce. You could also serve the chicken bites alone as an appetizer with the dip on the side.
Directions
1. | Mix together sesame seeds, flour, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Place beaten eggs in another and chicken in another (you are setting up a breading station here). |
2. | Heat a large non stick skillet or wok over medium high heat and add half the coconut oil. Dip chicken in eggs letting the excess drip off and then in the flour sesame mixture, making sure all sides are coated. |
3. | Place half the chicken in the skillet and cook, turning it over a couple times, until all sides are browned and chicken is cooked through, about 5 minutes. Add the rest of the coconut oil and repeat with remaining chicken. Set aside. |
4. | With the skillet still on medium-high heat, add the canola oil. Add ginger and cook for 30 seconds. Add broccoli and white part of bok choy and cook, stirring often, until browned and tender. |
5. | Add green leaves, and half of the sauce mixture and cook until greens are wilted. Add green onions and remove from heat. |
6. | Serve greens and chicken together with the extra sauce on the side for dipping or pouring over top. |
