We are big popcorn fans in this household.
It really is the perfect morning, afternoon, or evening snack. And while I do love our savoury stove top version, there are times when you NEED that air-popped taste this instant and don’t even want to take the time to break out your very large dutch oven and stand over the stove shaking this very heavy pot.
You know those times, like the times when you are 4.5 months pregnant, and probably shouldn’t be doing such heavy lifting and find yourself needing popcorn NOW. Yes, that is in fact the situation I find myself in these days. Very exciting, but very troubling…until now!
All you need to create instant microwave popcorn without that greasy and bright orange film that gathers around the outside of the commercial brand bag, is some popping corn and a paper bag. THAT’S IT!
After a quick spin in your microwave, you are left with healthy and fresh tasting popcorn, ready to be seasoned to your hearts content. We are minimalists in this household, and add a simple sprinkling of kosher salt. But feel free to jazz it up however you please – some olive oil or melted butter, cinnamon-sugar, or a shake of cayenne or parmesan cheese. I must say, it really is divine just straight up!
Now you can enjoy the taste of air popped corn straight from your microwave the second your craving hits – no more waiting or greasy orange fingers!

- 1/4 cup popping corn
- 1 paper bag
Note
On my microwave, 2 minutes and 20 seconds delivered perfectly popped corn. Every microwave is different so test it out on yours to see if you need a little more or a little less time. Try to remove the bag when you hear the popping really start to slow.
Directions
1. | Place popcorn in paper bag and place in microwave for 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Stop sooner if you hear the popping stop. |
2. | Remove from microwave, season to your taste, and enjoy! |
